Hi, I’m Bryana
I’m a beloved daughter of God, Catholic convert, mom, OCIA leader, and lifelong question asker. Just ask my parents and teachers.
In fact, that’s how my journey to the Church began.
It started when I decided to explore whether what I’d been told about the Catholic Church was actually true. The more questions I asked, the more I discovered that faith isn’t afraid of honest inquiry. It welcomes it.
God opened my heart a little more with each question I asked.
Today, I have the privilege of walking alongside adults entering the Catholic faith through OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) at my parish. Week after week, I encounter people asking many of the same questions I once asked myself:
Who is Jesus?
How do I talk to God?
Why does suffering exist?
What happens when we die?
And perhaps the most important question of all:
Does God really love me?
Teach My Heart was born from those conversations and from a desire to create a place where faith can seek understanding. Together, we’ll approach life’s questions with curiosity and humility so we can know God more deeply.
The Story Behind the Name
The name Teach My Heart comes from a prayer by St. Anselm of Canterbury that I often share with those I teach in OCIA.
The prayer begins:
"O Lord, my God, teach my heart this day where and how to see you, where and how to find You."
Most of us want to know God more deeply, but we're not always sure where to begin. We have questions, wrestle with doubts, and wonder if we're doing this faith thing "right."
St. Anselm understood that.
His motto was fides quaerens intellectum or faith seeking understanding. Faith invites us to bring our questions to God and trust that He will help us understand.
That is the mission of Teach My Heart.
My prayer is through these conversations we may all come to know God a little more.
